Universal Corporation (NYSE: UVV) announced that Patrick O'Keefe has notified the company of his intention to retire from his roles as Vice President, Ingredients for Universal Corporation and Senior Vice President, Universal Ingredients.

The company has engaged an executive search firm to identify a successor. O'Keefe will remain in his current position until a replacement is named and will then assist with the transition.

O'Keefe has served in his role for six years, during which the Universal Ingredients business expanded through acquisitions and strategic investments. Universal Ingredients will continue to operate under its current leadership team while the search is underway.

Preston D. Wigner, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Universal, said, "As we begin the search for his successor, we see an opportunity to build on this progress and identify a leader who can guide Universal Ingredients through its next phase of growth."

O'Keefe stated, "After considerable reflection, I believe this is the right time for me to retire and support the transition to the next generation of leadership for Universal Ingredients."
