Northern Trust launches banking APIs with NAV Fund Services as first client
Northern Trust (Nasdaq: NTRS) has launched application programming interfaces (APIs) for its banking services, giving Asset Servicing institutional clients real-time access to banking data and payment capabilities through direct system integration, according to a press release from the company.
The APIs provide clients with payment instructions, intraday and end-of-day account balance reporting, real-time credit and debit confirmations, and on-demand data delivery in industry-standard formats. The solution is designed to support straight-through processing and reduce manual intervention in client workflows.
NAV Fund Services, an independent global fund administrator, is the first client to implement the capability in a live production environment. The two firms' technology teams collaborated to build the integration across a range of transaction types, including balance and transaction reporting, cash management, and fund administration scenarios.
"As a fund administrator, timely and automated access to banking data is critical to supporting our clients and our operations," said Ravi Gupta, Chief Strategic Solutions Officer at NAV Fund Services. "The resulting API interfaces eliminate the delays of batch processing and file dependencies and advance how we service our clients."
Peter Lantero, head of Banking & Treasury Services at Northern Trust, said the APIs "allow clients to tightly integrate with Northern Trust for real-time balance and transaction information, supporting the complex needs of clients as their operating models continue to evolve."
NAV Fund Services was founded in 1991 and administers more than 2,550 funds with $450 billion in total assets under administration. Northern Trust reported $20.0 trillion in assets under custody and administration and $2.0 trillion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026.
