Handcraft Entertainment and Takasago partner on J-pop fragrances
Handcraft Entertainment, a client of Shore Fire Media — a subsidiary of Dolphin (NASDAQ: DLPN) — has entered a partnership with Takasago International Corporation USA to develop fragrances, flavors and consumer products tied to Japanese pop music and culture.
Takasago, described as one of Japan's largest fragrance and flavor companies, will work with Handcraft to create sensory products connected to artists, live events and cultural releases. One of the first planned projects is a fragrance developed with Handcraft artist Mia Takarabe, who previously collaborated with DJ Steve Aoki on a track titled "Heartless."
The companies also plan to develop original content and social media programming around the creation of these products, with the stated goal of bringing fans into the creative process.
Handcraft uses the term "global" J-pop to describe Japanese music and culture produced for international audiences. The partnership is intended to extend that positioning into consumer goods and experiential activations.
"This is about building something entirely new at the intersection of music, culture and sensory innovation," said Michael Africk, CEO of Handcraft Entertainment. "Takasago is uniquely positioned to define that world with us."
Joseph Lattarulo, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Takasago, said the company sees growing global demand for Japanese culture across entertainment, fashion, food and lifestyle.
