MARA Holdings adds two directors with energy and data center backgrounds
MARA Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: MARA) appointed Craig Hart and Nancy Novak as independent directors to its board, effective August 1, 2026, according to a company statement.
The appointments coincide with the departures of Barbara Humpton and Georges Antoun, who stepped down from the board on July 31, 2026, as part of what the company described as a planned transition. The board continues to comprise seven directors, six of whom are independent.
Hart currently serves as Senior Portfolio Manager and Global Co-Head of Energy and Power at Avenue Capital Group, where he leads the firm's private power strategy. He previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of US Power Generating Company prior to its sale to Tenaska Capital Management, and has held senior roles in power generation, energy infrastructure and private investing over more than 25 years in the energy sector.
Novak previously served as Chief Innovation Officer of Compass Datacenters, where she focused on large-scale data center development for hyperscale and cloud customers. Her career spans more than four decades in mission-critical infrastructure development, construction and operations. She currently serves on the boards of Sims Limited and Weston Solutions.
Fred Thiel, MARA's chairman and CEO, said the two appointments were intended to support the company's strategy combining energy, digital infrastructure and compute. Doug Mellinger, MARA's lead independent director, said the board regularly evaluates its composition to align with the company's strategy and long-term growth.
