Steel Dynamics, Inc. (NASDAQ: STLD) announced that its board of directors unanimously approved Theresa E. Wagler as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2027. Current CEO Mark D. Millett will retire from the role and transition to Executive Chairman of the board at the same time.

Wagler has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since May 2007 and joined Steel Dynamics in 1998. She has been appointed to the company's board of directors effective immediately. Richard A. Poinsatte, currently Executive Vice President and Treasurer, will succeed Wagler as Executive Vice President and CFO on January 1, 2027.

"Theresa has served as Executive Vice President and CFO since 2007 and has been an integral part of the strategy and leadership of the company since joining Steel Dynamics 28 years ago," said Kenneth Cornew, the company's Lead Independent Director.

The company also announced several additional senior leadership changes effective September 1, 2026. Barry Schneider will move into the new role of Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Miguel Alvarez will expand his responsibilities as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, adding oversight of metals recycling operations to his existing aluminum flat rolled products duties. James Anderson will take on executive oversight of the company's steel fabrication business in addition to his current oversight of the long products steel group, assuming the title of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Construction Products Operations. Christopher Graham has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Flat Rolled Steel Operations.

Prior to joining Steel Dynamics, Wagler was a certified public accountant with Ernst & Young LLP. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and systems analysis from Taylor University.
