Xos, Inc. (NASDAQ: XOS) released a white paper on Aug. 3, 2026, identifying more than 117 megawatt-hours of daily power demand across 40-plus venues planned for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games, according to a company statement.

The document, titled Powering the Venues: A Zero-Emission Venue Power Solution for the LA 2028 Games, examines how LA28's two stated commitments — supplying 100% renewable electricity at every venue and leaving no new permanent infrastructure behind — cannot both be met by diesel generators or permanent grid connections. Diesel generation conflicts with the zero-emission requirement, while permanent grid connections conflict with the reuse policy.

The white paper maps demand across nine geographic zones and proposes Xos's AC Power Hub and Solar System as an alternative. Each AC Power Hub unit carries a lithium iron phosphate battery in 210, 420, or 630 kWh configurations and delivers up to 300 kW of AC output. Units can accept input from on-site solar panels and require no permits or excavation. The paired Xos Solar System produces 90 kW from 152 panels.

The white paper outlines a deployment of 37 units across three venue archetypes, totaling approximately 9.1 MW of installed power and 20,160 kWh of storage.

Xos noted that it has eight Xos Hub units already deployed with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles and manufactures the AC Power Hub in Tennessee. The product holds UL1973, UL1741, and UL9540A certifications and is available through Sourcewell, GSA, and OMNIA Partners procurement vehicles.

"Diesel breaks the zero-emission promise and permanent grid lines break the reuse promise, while mobile energy storage meets both," said Dakota Semler, Chief Executive Officer of Xos.

Xos stated that after the Games, the mobile units could be redeployed for emergency power, community cooling centers, film production, and live events.
