August 3, 2026 10:26 AM

Marcus Theatres, a division of Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS), reported its highest-revenue weekend in company history, driven by the opening of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the continued run of The Odyssey, and the carryover performance of Toy Story 5.

According to a company statement, Spider-Man: Brand New Day set the record for the highest opening day box office for a single title in Marcus Theatres history, while ranking as the second-highest opening weekend for a single title. The film drew an estimated 24 million moviegoers nationwide during its opening weekend.

Other records the company said were broken over the weekend include highest weekend box office of all time, highest weekend concession and food and beverage revenue, highest weekend attendance since 2019, second-highest weekend attendance of all time, and highest opening weekend premium large format attendance.

Marcus Theatres operates 975 screens at 77 locations across 17 states under its Marcus Theatres, Movie Tavern by Marcus, and BistroPlex brands.

Jeff Tomachek, president of Marcus Theatres, noted in the statement that the weekend follows other record performances in 2026, including the highest June total revenue and the highest-grossing five-day Easter weekend in company history.
