American Airlines and Citi update AAdvantage Executive card with new perks

American Airlines (NASDAQ: AAL) and Citi announced updates to the Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Legend Mastercard, introducing new benefits and raising the annual fee to $695 for new cardmembers starting Aug. 23, 2026. The current annual fee is $595.

The refreshed card adds several new statement credits, including up to $500 back on eligible American Airlines Vacations purchases and up to $100 on inflight and eligible Admirals Club purchases per calendar year. Annual Lyft credits increase from $120 to $180, earned after three eligible rides per calendar month.

Earning rates on eligible AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars bookings increase from 10x to 12x AAdvantage miles. The card also introduces new Loyalty Point milestones at 165,000 and 240,000 points, raising the maximum bonus Loyalty Points cardmembers can earn to 40,000 per status qualification year, up from 20,000.

New travel benefits include automatic Omni Hotels and Resorts Champion Status, an annual free night after a qualifying two-night stay at Omni, and complimentary Avis President's Club Status enrollment through Aug. 31, 2028.

The card retains Admirals Club membership, which the companies describe as valued at up to $1,400 annually, covering unlimited visits for the primary cardmember and up to two guests or immediate family members at more than 100 lounges worldwide. American Airlines said it is also updating Admirals Club annual membership rates and consolidating to a single membership tier, also effective Aug. 23, 2026.

The authorized user fee remains $175 for up to three users and $175 for each additional user. The variable APR for purchases ranges from 19.49% to 29.49%.
