Navan updates travel policy controls for flight, rail, and hotel
Navan (NASDAQ: NAVN), the business travel and expense platform, has introduced a new set of policy controls for its corporate travel management system, the company said in a press release.
The update expands the platform's existing policy and approval engine with more granular configuration options for travel managers overseeing global programs. Key additions include:
For flight policies, travel managers can now tailor cost limits, cabin eligibility, advance-booking requirements, and upgrade rules by traveler group and flight duration.
For rail, the update introduces trip-length-aware policies and expands cabin-class controls from two to four categories, reflecting the range of classes across more than 60 rail carriers available on the platform.
For hotels, managers can set country-level nightly rate limits with city-specific exceptions, either alongside dynamic market-based policies or as a standalone spending control.
"Many travel managers are facing an impossible task of responding to daily changes but with policies that were built for a world that moved once a year," said Kim Hamer, Chief Travel Advisory Officer at Navan. "The answer is not a longer rulebookâit is a more adaptive model that allows people to operate without tying their hands behind their backs."
Navan said the changes were developed in response to feedback from travel and expense program leaders gathered in interviews conducted by research firm Garner, findings from which were published in a recent Navan report.
