United Community Banks completes merger with Peach State Bancshares
United Community Banks, Inc. (NYSE: UCB) completed its merger with Peach State Bancshares, Inc., the parent company of Peach State Bank & Trust, effective August 1, 2026.
Under the terms of the transaction, Peach State Bancshares merged into United Community Banks, with United continuing as the surviving company. Peach State Bank & Trust was subsequently merged into United's bank subsidiary, United Community Bank.
Peach State Bank, headquartered in Gainesville, Georgia, reported total assets of $784 million, total loans of $524 million, and total deposits of $707 million as of June 30, 2026. The bank operates two branches in Hall County, located in Gainesville and Braselton, Georgia.
United Community Banks said the conversion of core systems, signage, and branding to the United Community brand is expected to occur in the first quarter of 2027.

As of June 30, 2026, United Community Banks reported $29.1 billion in assets and operated 200 offices across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Hovde Group, LLC acted as financial advisor to United, and Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz served as its legal advisor. Piper Sandler & Co. served as Peach State's financial advisor, and Alston & Bird LLP served as its legal advisor.
