Surf Air Mobility Inc., a Los Angeles-based air mobility platform, announced that Shawn Pelsinger has taken on the role of Chairman of the Board, according to a shareholder letter issued by the company.

Pelsinger previously served as Global Head of Corporate Development at Palantir Technologies for a decade. In the letter, he stated the company has reduced its debt, improved profitability in its air mobility business, and secured a contract with Wheels Up to deploy its SurfOS software platform, valued at up to $12 million over the contract term.

The company describes SurfOS as an AI-enabled operating system developed in partnership with Palantir, targeting enterprise and small-to-medium-sized clients in the aviation industry. Pelsinger noted that additional SurfOS products — OperatorOS, OwnerOS, and OEM OS — have not yet launched commercially.

Surf Air Mobility outlined three business segments: SurfOS software, a technology-enabled private charter platform, and airline operations. The company stated its private charter business, Surf On Demand, is expected to be its largest growth driver.

The company also said it aims to be the first airline to fly a paying passenger on a certified electric aircraft, with operations planned in Hawaii using aircraft from partner BETA Technologies once regulatory certification is obtained.

Surf Air Mobility trades on the New York Stock Exchange. The shareholder letter noted goals through 2027, including rolling out SurfOS products, growing charter platform revenue, and establishing a path to profitability across each business unit.
