Parsons Corporation (NYSE: PSN) has been selected as lead designer for the Interstate 526 Long Point Road Interchange Improvements project in South Carolina, working as part of the Ames Construction design-build team, according to a company statement.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation awarded the approximately $227 million design-build contract to the Ames Construction team. Parsons' design services portion represents approximately 10% of the total project value.

The project is focused on the interchange at Interstate 526 and Long Point Road in the Mount Pleasant area near Charleston. The work is intended to improve traffic operations, safety, and reliability for motorists and commercial vehicle drivers.

The improvements are also expected to enhance connectivity to the Wando Welch Terminal, a port facility on the East Coast, to support freight movement through the region.

Parsons will provide comprehensive engineering and design services for the interchange improvements as lead designer on the project.
