SEALSQ begins commercial rollout of Miraex quantum photonics unit
SEALSQ Corp (NASDAQ: LAES) has launched the commercial phase of quantum photonics technology developed by Miraex SA, following its 100% acquisition of the Swiss company, which was completed on June 2, 2026.
The acquisition was financed through SEALSQ's $200 million Quantum Fund, which has deployed more than $65 million into quantum technology investments to date. Miraex is headquartered at the EPFL Innovation Park in Ecublens, Switzerland.
The core of Miraex's technology is a proprietary Thin Film Lithium Tantalate Photonic Integrated Circuit (TFLT PIC) platform, which converts quantum information between microwave frequencies used by superconducting quantum processors and optical frequencies used for long-distance quantum communications.
The initial commercial rollout targets four markets: distributed quantum computing, quantum networking, quantum sensing, and space-based satellite communications through what SEALSQ calls its Quantum Orbital Space Cloud.
"This marks SEALSQ's transition from breakthrough research to commercial deployment," said Carlos Moreira, Chairman and CEO of SEALSQ. "Miraex closes the quantum interconnect layer of our Quantum Sovereign Vertical Stack, the one piece the industry cannot scale without, and we now own it outright."
SEALSQ stated the acquisition supports its stated goal of building a platform that integrates secure semiconductor hardware, post-quantum cryptography, quantum communications, quantum networking, and quantum computing. The company said it plans to target governments, defense organizations, cloud providers, telecom operators, and critical infrastructure operators.
