Sensrad partners with VirtuRail to add 4D imaging radar in tunnels

July 31, 2026 8:01 AM

Sensrad, a tier-1 customer of Arbe Robotics (NASDAQ: ARBE), announced a collaboration with VirtuRail to integrate 4D imaging radar into automated service vehicles used in underground construction projects.

VirtuRail develops rail-less, driver-assistance-supported transport systems designed to automate logistics in tunnel construction. The company's existing perception system relies primarily on cameras and LiDAR sensors. Under the collaboration, Sensrad's Hugin D1 4D imaging radar and Oden Drive perception software will be added to VirtuRail's advanced driver assistance system to improve redundancy and situational awareness in conditions such as smoke, dust, darkness, and tunnel fires.

Sensrad said it selected Arbe's chipset-based radar for its performance in low-visibility environments, where optical sensors can be challenged. The radar is intended to provide a reliable perception layer in emergency scenarios and demanding underground conditions.

"The collaboration demonstrates that Arbe's 4D imaging radar chipset delivers reliable performance in complex environments and is a key sensor for autonomous vehicles or machinery that operate in areas with adverse weather or low visibility conditions," said Ram Machness, CEO of Arbe.

Arbe Robotics is headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel, and also operates offices in the United States, Germany, and China.
