CACI International Inc (NYSE: CACI) has been awarded a three-year, $500 million Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for counter-unmanned aircraft systems, with its SkyValor drone defense system selected as the first task order, according to a press release from the company.

Under the contract, CACI will deploy SkyValor systems to strategic locations as part of an effort led by Joint Interagency Task Force 401 (JIATF-401) to counter unmanned aerial threats. The system is designed to detect, track, and neutralize hostile drones, including cellular-enabled drones.

SkyValor completed operational evaluations conducted by JIATF-401 at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, where it was assessed for its ability to detect and defeat small unmanned aircraft systems beyond the line of sight. Following those evaluations, JIATF-401 approved the system for deployment to critical sites.

"With successful operational evaluations complete, we are moving SkyValor into full-rate production to deliver mission-ready protection where it is needed most," said John Mengucci, CACI President and Chief Executive Officer.

The IDIQ award follows a separate contract through JIATF-401's Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) for four SkyValor units, including a variant mounted on a heavy-duty truck for mobile deployment. CACI employs approximately 27,000 people and is a member of the Fortune 500.
