Elastic (NYSE: ESTC) announced an expanded collaboration with OpenAI to help organizations build AI applications and agents using OpenAI models with Elasticsearch, according to a press release from the company.

The partnership combines Elasticsearch's retrieval, search, and governance capabilities with OpenAI's reasoning models, allowing organizations to connect AI systems to their internal enterprise data. Elastic has supported OpenAI models through AI Assistants and connectors since 2023, and the new arrangement expands that work through deeper product integration.

The companies said they will focus on three areas: context-aware AI agents that retrieve permission-aware enterprise knowledge, agentic observability to help site reliability engineering teams investigate root causes, and agentic security operations to convert alert volumes into analyst-ready investigations.

Through the OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program, Elastic plans to integrate OpenAI's GPT-5.5 Cyber-specific models into Elastic Security agentic workflows. The company also plans to extend governance to the OpenAI platform to enable detection of anomalous OpenAI activity alongside endpoint and network threats. For developers using OpenAI Codex, Elastic said it will develop integration points providing governed, real-time access to unstructured enterprise data.

Gartner has estimated that unstructured data accounts for 70% to 90% of organizational data. Developers can currently connect OpenAI models with Elasticsearch using Elastic AI Assistants, Agent Builder, and MCP integrations.
