July 29, 2026 6:45 AM

Jacobs (NYSE: J) has been selected by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro), working alongside Clark Construction Group, to design and build electric bus charging infrastructure at two of LA Metro's bus divisions in Carson and West Hollywood.

Under the progressive design-build contract, Jacobs will retrofit the two divisions with overhead charging systems, upgraded electrical distribution, and smart energy management tools. The project is scheduled for completion before the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

The infrastructure is intended to support LA Metro's transition to a zero-emission bus fleet of approximately 2,000 vehicles. Construction will be managed to maintain 24-hour, seven-day bus operations throughout the build period.

Jacobs Executive Vice President Eva Wood said: "This project will deliver one of the nation's most advanced bus charging systems, supporting Metro's 2,000-bus fleet transition and cutting emissions for and beyond the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games."

Jacobs is also delivering LA Metro's 2028 Games Mobility Concept Plan and is collaborating with agencies including Caltrans, Metrolink, and the City of Los Angeles on regional transportation projects ahead of the games.
