Interactive Brokers expands AI account access to MCP-compatible tools

July 28, 2026 10:00 AM

Interactive Brokers Group (Nasdaq: IBKR) announced that clients can now connect their brokerage accounts to any AI tool built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) standard, expanding beyond the previously supported ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok certified marketplaces.

The expanded integration adds support for tools including Claude Code, Cursor, Perplexity, and Windsurf. Support for Gemini is described as coming soon. The company said its AI integration has been built on MCP since its initial launch.

Through the integration, clients can use a connected AI tool to analyze portfolios, research investments, monitor risk, and draft trade instructions using natural language. The AI drafts instructions, but clients must review each one and manually convert it to an order on an Interactive Brokers platform before submission. Clients control what account data the AI can access.

"Supporting AI tools built on the Model Context Protocol is a natural extension of that philosophy," said CEO Milan Galik. "It gives clients the flexibility to use the AI applications they prefer to research investments, manage their portfolios, and interact with their IBKR accounts."

To connect an MCP-compatible tool not already in a certified marketplace, clients enter the Interactive Brokers connector URL into the tool's MCP server settings, log in through Interactive Brokers' secure screen, and authorize access for a single account.

The AI integration works across Interactive Brokers' platforms, including Client Portal, IBKR Desktop, IBKR GlobalTrader, IBKR Mobile, and Trader Workstation. The expanded MCP connectivity is available now, according to a company press release.
