Upland Software CEO outlines AI-focused strategy in shareholder letter

July 28, 2026 9:05 AM

Upland Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: UPLD) has published a letter to shareholders from President and Chief Executive Officer Sean Nathaniel, outlining the company's strategic priorities under new leadership, according to a press release.

The Austin, Texas-based enterprise software company said it is directing investment toward AI-powered growth opportunities, with a focus on knowledge and content automation solutions. The company also said it is working to reduce debt and improve cash flow generation through tighter capital allocation across the rest of its business.

"We believe we have an advantage most AI entrants spend years trying to build, an installed base of more than 1,100 enterprise customers who trust us to power their AI journey rather than be displaced by it," Nathaniel said in the letter.

Nathaniel also addressed the company's approach to resource allocation. "Beyond where we are investing, we are just as disciplined about where we are not," he said. "Across the rest of the business, we are driving efficiency to fund that growth, expand margins, and generate the free cash flow needed to support deleveraging and long-term shareholder value creation."

Upland said it expects to report full second-quarter results in line with previously issued guidance, along with an updated outlook for the third quarter and full year, by mid-August 2026.
