Fortinet (NASDAQ: FTNT) announced the FortiGate 1200G series on July 28, 2026, adding a new model to its FortiGate G series lineup that combines firewall hardware with a feature called FortiSASE Outpost, which allows cloud-delivered security services to run within customer-controlled environments.

The FortiGate 1200G is powered by Fortinet's FortiASIC architecture and supports 10G, 25G, and 100G connectivity. According to the company, the appliance delivers 397 Gbps of firewall throughput, 102 Gbps of IPSec VPN throughput, 40 Gbps of threat protection, and supports up to 40 million concurrent sessions. Fortinet states these figures are based on its own testing methodology, and notes that competitive figures are drawn from publicly available vendor data sheets.

When configured as a FortiSASE Outpost, the FortiGate 1200G operates as a local security point of presence, enabling organizations to process traffic on-site rather than routing it through a cloud-based node. Fortinet says this option is intended to address data sovereignty, compliance, latency, and bandwidth requirements. Both cloud-delivered and on-site deployments are managed through the FortiSASE interface using a shared policy framework built on FortiOS.

Ken Xie, Fortinet's founder, chairman, and CEO, said in a statement: "The FortiGate 1200G with FortiSASE Outpost capability advances this vision by combining local enforcement and cloud-delivered security to address customers' evolving sovereignty, performance, and AI infrastructure requirements."

FortiGate 1200G is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2026.
