Lyft (Nasdaq: LYFT) announced that Ben Minicucci, CEO and President of Alaska Air Group, has joined its board of directors, effective July 23, 2026.

Minicucci has spent more than two decades at Alaska Air Group, the parent company of Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air. He joined Alaska in 2004 following several years in technical operations at Air Canada, and previously served 14 years in the Canadian Armed Forces.

During his tenure at Alaska Air Group, Minicucci oversaw the company's acquisition of Virgin America in 2016 and its acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines in 2024, along with growth in international routes, global partnerships, and loyalty programs.

Lyft CEO David Risher said in a statement: "Ben has led a major public company through significant international expansion, and he's done it with a relentless focus on safety, operational excellence, and people."

Minicucci holds bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

His appointment follows the earlier addition of Deborah Hersman, described by the company as an autonomous vehicle safety and policy expert, to the same board. According to the press release, Lyft now operates across six continents, offering rideshare, taxis, car sharing, bikes, and scooters.
