Emerson adds five AI agents to its Ovation platform for power and water

July 27, 2026 9:03 AM

Emerson (NYSE: EMR) introduced five new Ovation AI Agents for the power and water industries on July 27, expanding the AI capabilities of its Ovation Automation Platform 4.0 release.

The five agents are the Sequence Assistant Agent, Alarm Insight Agent, Predictive Maintenance Agent, Root Cause Agent and Loop Performance Monitor Agent. Each is designed to monitor plant conditions and deliver recommendations within existing operator workflows, rather than through a separate analytics interface.

The agents are integrated directly into the Ovation 4.0 platform and operate autonomously in the background. Operators retain approval authority over any recommended action, a design the company describes as "human-in-the-loop."

Bob Yeager, president of Emerson's power and water solutions business, said the agents "handle complex data analysis and pattern recognition to monitor asset health, run simulations, forecast failures and prioritize interventions."

According to the company, early deployments showed the Sequence Assistant Agent identifying a failed permissive condition in seconds, a task that previously required hours of manual investigation. The Predictive Maintenance Agent reportedly detected an equipment anomaly at a utility before it reached a critical stage.

The five agents are scheduled to launch in the fall of 2026. Emerson stated its broader roadmap includes 28 additional planned agents spanning operations, maintenance, optimization, instrumentation and control, and management functions.

Emerson also said it will showcase an Ovation AI Agent Builder at this year's Ovation Users Group Conference, where it plans to demonstrate tools for designing and customizing agents for specific operational needs.
