Nvidia and Safe Superintelligence Inc. (SSI) have announced a long-term partnership that includes an undisclosed investment from Nvidia in the AI startup, according to a joint press release.

As part of the agreement, SSI will gain access to Nvidia's Vera Rubin computing platform, which the company said will allow it to increase its compute capacity by an order of magnitude. The two companies also plan to collaborate on the technical development of Nvidia's current and future computing platforms.

SSI was founded in 2024 by Ilya Sutskever, a researcher known for contributions to AlexNet, AlphaGo, sequence-to-sequence learning, and the GPT models, as well as research that contributed to OpenAI's o1 reasoning model. Daniel Levy serves as co-founder alongside Sutskever. The company's existing investors include Andreessen Horowitz, DST Global, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital.

"We have research that is worthy of scaling up, and having access to a big Nvidia computer will let us do so," said Sutskever, SSI's CEO.

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia, said the company entered the partnership after obtaining access to SSI's research. "We are excited to see what new breakthroughs SSI will discover powered by our Vera Rubin platform," Huang said.

Nvidia trades on the Nasdaq as NVDA. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.
