Naver, Nvidia, and Brookfield plan $10B Korea AI infrastructure push
Naver, Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA), and Brookfield announced plans to expand Korea's AI data center infrastructure, with a target of scaling the Nvidia DSX AI factory at Naver's GAK Sejong data center from 55 megawatts to 200 megawatts by 2028. Naver has also stated a longer-term intention to reach 1 gigawatt of Nvidia AI infrastructure capacity.
The announcement was made during Korean President Jae Myung Lee's visit to an AI Summit in San Francisco. Nvidia plans to invest $1 billion into Naver Corp., while Brookfield plans to fund up to $9 billion for AI infrastructure. Naver will contribute the remaining financing. Nvidia's planned investment is subject to customary closing conditions.
The expanded facility is expected to use Nvidia Vera Rubin and Nvidia Blackwell platforms and will operate as a multi-tenant AI cloud infrastructure serving enterprises, government organizations, and AI companies in both Korea and the United States.
Brookfield (NYSE: BN, TSX: BN; NYSE: BAM, TSX: BAM) said it manages approximately $100 billion in assets across the AI infrastructure value chain and has been an investor in Korea since 2014. The firm is funding the project through its Global AI Infrastructure Program, in which Nvidia is a founding partner.
Naver also announced plans to launch an AI agent platform in Korea in the second half of 2026, powered by Nvidia Agent Toolkit software. The company stated it is developing a Seoul World Model using proprietary urban street-view and spatial data, built on Nvidia Cosmos world foundation models. Naver additionally joined the Nvidia Nemotron Coalition, which the press release describes as a first for a Korean company.
