RTX stock jumps as company lifts guidance after Q2 beat

Investing.com -- Shares in RTX Corp jumped in premarket trading Thursday after the aerospace and defense giant reported second-quarter earnings well ahead of Wall Street estimates and raised its full-year guidance across the board.

RTX posted second-quarter earnings per share of $1.89, beating the analyst estimate of $1.66. Revenue came in at $24.7 billion, up 16% organically, above the $22.88 billion consensus.

The stock rose 5.8% in the pre-open trade by 06:21 ET (10:21 GMT).

Looking ahead, RTX raised its full-year 2026 guidance, now expecting earnings per share of $7.10 to $7.25, up from $6.70 to $6.90 previously, and above the $6.92 consensus. The company lifted its revenue guidance to $95-96 billion, from $92.5-93.5 billion, versus a consensus of $94.1 billion, and now expects organic sales growth of 8-9%, up from 5-6% previously.

Free cash flow guidance was also raised to $8.50-8.75 billion, from $8.25-8.75 billion.

"RTX is exceptionally well positioned to drive continued growth as we execute on our backlog, increase productivity, expand capacity, and introduce new technologies to our customers," said RTX Chairman and CEO Chris Calio.

The company’s backlog during the second quarter rose 22% to $289 billion, including $170 billion in commercial orders and $119 billion in defense.

Operating cash flow was $3.5 billion, with free cash flow of $2.9 billion.
