bioAffinity Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: BIAF, BIAFW) announced a collaboration with Pictor, Inc. to develop and commercialize diagnostic tests for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), according to a press release from the company.

The agreement combines bioAffinity's flow cytometry platform with Pictor's targeted proteomic analysis platform to analyze immune cell populations and cytokine profiles associated with airway inflammation. The tests are intended to help physicians identify the inflammatory pathways driving an individual patient's disease and support treatment decisions, including the use of FDA-approved biologics.

bioAffinity holds multiple patents pending related to its asthma and COPD testing platform and will retain intellectual property rights for tests developed through the collaboration. Pictor retains its existing intellectual property and will own new inventions related to its proteomic platform.

The company anticipates the tests will initially be offered as Laboratory Developed Tests under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments. The tests build on the same sputum-analysis platform used by bioAffinity's existing CyPath Lung cancer detection test.

The Centers for Disease Control reports that asthma and COPD affect more than 40 million Americans and more than 650 million people worldwide. The global asthma and COPD therapeutics market was valued at approximately $92 billion in 2024 and is projected to exceed $108 billion in 2026 and $155 billion by 2030, according to Grand View Research.

Pictor, Inc. is headquartered in Carlsbad, California, and was founded in New Zealand. The company opened its U.S. headquarters in 2025. Pictor CEO Jamie Platt, PhD, has served on bioAffinity Technologies' Board of Directors since 2023.
