Fermi Inc. (NASDAQ: FRMI) announced that three Siemens Energy SGT6-5000F natural gas turbines have arrived at the Port of Houston, destined for the company's Project Matador site near Amarillo, Texas.

The three turbines are rated at up to 780 megawatts combined in simple-cycle mode, with each unit capable of producing up to 260 megawatts. According to the company, the turbines will form part of the second phase of Project Matador, an energy and AI campus the company describes as one of the world's largest of its kind.

Fermi states it has secured or leased 7,570 acres in the Texas Panhandle and has invested more than $1.4 billion in site buildout to date. The project is expected to reach approximately 1.5 gigawatts of capacity through 2027, subject to binding tenant agreements.

The turbine delivery follows recent contractor announcements. Fermi selected TSK, a Spain-based engineering, procurement, and construction firm, for early works on phase-two turbines, and engaged Primoris Services Corporation for balance-of-plant construction on six SGT-800 turbines in phase one.

"Getting the first turbine to Houston is a big logistics win," said Chad Ingersoll, Vice President of Construction at Fermi America. "Crews in the Panhandle are already prepping the site. Every week we gain between plan and hardware is a week closer to first power."

The SGT6-5000F turbines can ramp at up to 40 megawatts per minute and reach full output in approximately five minutes. Siemens Energy reports a global fleet reliability near 99% for the model.

From Houston, the turbines are scheduled to be transported overland to the Project Matador campus, where site preparation is already underway.
