Chubb names new president for its reinsurance unit
Chubb Limited (NYSE: CB) announced executive leadership changes at its global reinsurance business, Chubb Tempest Re, effective August 1.
James Wixtead, who has served as Senior Vice President of Chubb Group and President of Chubb Tempest Re Group, has been named Executive Chairman. In that role, he will provide governance oversight and advise on strategy for Chubb's global reinsurance operations.
Michael O'Donnell, currently Division President of Chubb Tempest Re USA, will succeed Wixtead as Senior Vice President of Chubb Group and President of Chubb Tempest Re. O'Donnell will have day-to-day executive management responsibility for the unit and will report to Chubb Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Evan G. Greenberg and President and Chief Operating Officer John Keogh.
Wixtead has nearly 40 years of insurance industry experience. Before ACE's acquisition of Chubb in January 2016, he served as President of ACE Tempest Re Group and was appointed Senior Vice President of ACE Group in July 2014. From 2005 to 2014, he was Division President of ACE Tempest Re USA.
O'Donnell has served as Division President of Chubb Tempest Re USA since 2014. He joined Chubb Tempest Re in 2006 as a casualty treaty underwriter and began his career at General Reinsurance Corp. He holds an MBA from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Science in finance from Villanova University.
