Medifast launches Trilivy, replacing its Optavia brand

July 17, 2026 8:32 AM

Medifast, Inc. (NYSE: MED) has announced the launch of Trilivy, a metabolic health system that replaces its former Optavia brand. The Baltimore-based company said the transition marks a shift in focus from weight loss to broader metabolic health.

The Trilivy system is built around what Medifast calls Metabolic Synchronization, a science framework the company says targets metabolic dysfunction through three mechanisms: reducing visceral fat, preserving lean mass, and supporting muscle health. The company cited a clinical study in which participants retained 98% of lean mass and reduced visceral fat by 14% over 16 weeks on its weight loss plan.

The system is structured in three phases — Reset, Refine, and Renew — and is supported by a network of independent coaches. A separate clinical study cited by the company found that participants using a coach-supported program lost up to 10 times more weight and 17 times more fat than those attempting weight loss independently.

Accompanying the launch is the Trilivy Reset Fueling line, which includes newly formulated meal replacements enhanced with what the company calls MetaVantage Technology, a proprietary ingredient platform. Additional newly formulated meal replacements are planned for release in August.

"Trilivy honors the strong foundation we've built while embracing a brand that reflects where we're headed: a modern metabolic health company built for today's world and tomorrow's opportunities," said Nick Johnson, CEO of Medifast.

The press release noted that more than 90% of U.S. adults face metabolic health challenges, citing a 2022 study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
