A joint venture that includes a subsidiary of Southland Holdings, Inc. (NYSE American: SLND) has been awarded an approximately $815 million CAD contract by the City of Winnipeg for an upgrade to its North End Water Pollution Control Centre biosolids facilities in Manitoba.

The joint venture, Red River Biosolids Partners, is comprised of Aecon (TSX: ARE), MWH Constructors, and Oscar Renda Contracting of Canada, a Southland subsidiary, with each partner holding a 33.3% interest. Stantec is providing design services for the progressive design-build project.

Southland's share of the contract, approximately $272 million CAD, will be added to its Civil segment backlog in the third quarter of 2026.

The joint venture has completed the collaborative development phase, during which design and cost elements were advanced. Construction will now begin on new biosolids facilities and modifications to existing infrastructure. Upgraded facility operations are expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2030, with final construction completion anticipated in the second quarter of 2031.

The facility is described as Winnipeg's largest and oldest wastewater treatment plant, responsible for treating 70% of the city's wastewater and all biosolids. According to a press release from Southland, the upgrades are intended to help meet environmental regulations, protect waterways, and expand water treatment capacity.
