Grok launches automated task scheduling with email triggers
xAI's Grok chatbot has introduced a feature called Automations, which allows users to set up recurring tasks that run on a schedule or are triggered by incoming emails, according to a company statement.
Automations are available on grok.com and through the Grok mobile app on iOS and Android. Users describe a task in plain language, set a schedule or trigger condition, and Grok executes the task at the designated time, saving results to a run history that users can review later.
Scheduled options include one-time, daily, weekday, weekly, monthly, or yearly runs at a user-selected time. Email triggers monitor a user's inbox and activate when an incoming message matches specified filters, such as sender address, recipient, or subject line keywords. When triggered, Grok processes the email and can respond to it directly.
Each automation run is stored as a full conversation thread, which users can open and continue. Notifications can be sent via email, app alert, both, or neither.
Automations can be created through direct chat instructions or from pre-built templates on the Automations page. Any automation can be paused, resumed, edited, or deleted at any time.
Scheduled automations are available to all users at no additional cost. Email trigger functionality is limited to SuperGrok subscribers.
