Coca-Cola shares slip as ransomware attack halts U.S. fairlife production
Investing.com -- Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) shares dipped 1% in after-hours trading Thursday after the beverage giant disclosed a ransomware attack that has temporarily paralyzed U.S. production at its fairlife dairy subsidiary.
The company confirmed that a third party gained unauthorized access to fairlife’s network, directly compromising production-related systems. As a result, Coca-Cola has been forced to hit pause on all fairlife manufacturing operations across the United States.
Upon detecting the breach, Coca-Cola immediately triggered its incident response and business continuity protocols. The company has notified law enforcement and is actively collaborating with external cybersecurity experts and advisors to assess the fallout.
While the full scope, nature, and financial impact of the cyberattack are still being determined, Coca-Cola provided key reassurances:
No Risk to Consumers: The breach has not compromised product quality or food safety.
Canadian Facilities Unaffected: fairlife’s production lines in Canada remain fully operational and untouched by the incident.
Coca-Cola stated it is working diligently to conclude its investigation, secure the network, and safely bring its impacted U.S. operations back online.
