Netflix beats on profit, but slight revenue miss keeps growth questions alive
Investing.com -- Netflix reported second-quarter results on Thursday that exceeded profit expectations, although revenue narrowly missed Wall Street estimates as the streaming giant continued to benefit from higher subscription prices and advertising growth.
The streaming giant posted earnings per share of $0.80, topping the consensus estimate of $0.79. Revenue rose 13% to $12.56 billion but missed analysts’ expectations of $12.58 billion.
The streaming giant said recent price increases and continued expansion of its advertising-supported business contributed to the quarterly growth.
Netflix shares have fallen more than 40% over the past year as investors questioned the company’s long-term growth strategy. The stock’s decline accelerated after Netflix explored a bid for Warner Bros. Discovery’s studio and streaming assets before ultimately missing out on the acquisition.
Netflix also highlighted improving engagement, saying members watched more than 97 billion hours of content during the first half of 2026, up 1.5% from the second half of 2025 and 1.9% from the same period a year earlier.
