Lyft (NASDAQ: LYFT) and Curb have expanded their partnership to New York City, allowing eligible Lyft riders to be matched with licensed taxis through the Lyft app, according to a joint statement from the companies.

The expansion follows earlier deployments of the integration in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Lyft describes the New York City rollout as its largest deployment of the Curb integration to date. Curb operates a network of thousands of taxis in the city.

Riders requesting a Standard, Priority Pickup, or Wait & Save ride may be matched with a nearby licensed taxi through Curb Flow, Curb's open API that aggregates ride demand. Riders who prefer not to be matched with a taxi can update that preference in the app. Upfront pricing, driver and vehicle information, in-app safety features, and tipping and rating options will remain available on taxi rides.

Lyft safety features including real-time location sharing, in-app chat, Smart Trip Check-In, and emergency assistance will also apply to taxi rides booked through the platform. Taxi drivers in the Curb network are subject to the same service standards as other drivers on Lyft.

Dorel Tamam, Vice President of the Mobile Business Unit at Curb, said the New York City expansion "is a major milestone for drivers and riders alike."
