ZenaTech acquires Velocity Geomatics, its 25th deal since early 2025
ZenaTech, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZENA) has completed the acquisition of Velocity Geomatics Inc., a Grande Prairie, Alberta-based company operating as Velocity Group, marking the company's 25th acquisition since January 2025.
Velocity Group provides geospatial land surveying, geomatics, mapping, and environmental and regulatory compliance services for oil and gas producers in Western Canada. The company operates from a head office in Grande Prairie and three regional offices, serving clients across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. Approximately 80% of its current projects already use drone-based workflows for surveying and geospatial data collection.
The acquisition represents ZenaTech's first entry into drone-based geomatics for environmental and regulatory compliance in the oil and gas sector. ZenaTech said the deal meets an interim goal it announced at the time of its 2024 public offering to complete 25 acquisitions in support of its Drone as a Service business by mid-2026.
"This acquisition expands our Drone as a Service business into Canada's oil and gas sector focused on environmental and regulatory assessments for oil extraction and pipelines, in one of the most significant energy markets in North America," said Shaun Passley, Ph.D., CEO of ZenaTech.
According to market analysts cited in the press release, the global oil and gas drone inspection services market is valued at approximately $2.3 billion and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 28.5%.
Velocity Group's client portfolio includes energy operators and natural gas producers active in upstream and infrastructure development projects across Western Canada.
