Aurora Mobile's EngageLab deploys OTP solution for Philippines lender Mocasa
Aurora Mobile Limited (NASDAQ: JG) announced that Mocasa, a digital lending and payment platform in the Philippines operated by Philippine Cashtrout Lending Corporation, has implemented an OTP authentication solution from EngageLab, Aurora Mobile's customer engagement platform.
According to a press release, Mocasa deployed EngageLab's enterprise-grade one-time password system across its business operations to address verification delays, multi-scenario security requirements, and operational costs associated with traditional SMS channels.
The solution integrates SMS, WhatsApp, and voice verification channels. The system routes OTP delivery through WhatsApp by default and switches to local SMS channels when messages go unread, using globally distributed nodes and proximity routing technology.
The billing model charges based on successful verifications rather than message volume, a departure from the send-volume-based pricing used by traditional SMS providers. EngageLab also offers periodic platform fee waivers as part of the arrangement.
Mocasa's operations span account logins, credit approvals, and fund payments, all of which require identity verification. The platform cited network instability across parts of Southeast Asia as a contributing factor to user drop-offs during the registration process.
Aurora Mobile, founded in 2011 and headquartered in Singapore, provides customer engagement and marketing technology services. Its EngageLab platform serves enterprise clients across multiple markets.
