Sigma Lithium shareholders reelect full board with 96% support
Sigma Lithium Corporation (NASDAQ: SGML) held its 2026 Annual Meeting of Shareholders on June 30, 2026, at which all five director nominees were elected or reelected with a combined approval rate of 96.25% of votes cast.
A total of 81,553,499 common shares, representing 72.77% of outstanding shares, were voted at the meeting in person and by proxy.
CEO and Co-Chairperson Ana Cristina Cabral received 97.41% of votes in favor. Other elected directors included Junaid Jafar at 99.94%, Alexandre Rodrigues Cabral at 99.94%, Kátia Abreu at 99.97%, and Marcelo Paiva at 83.97%.
Shareholders also voted 99.93% in favor of fixing the number of directors at five. Grant Thornton LLP was appointed as the company's auditor for the ensuing year, with 99.95% of votes cast in favor.
The elected directors will hold office until the next annual meeting scheduled for June 30, 2027, or until their successors are duly elected or appointed.
According to the company's press release, Sigma Lithium is advancing a Phase 2 expansion at its Grota do Cirilo operation in Brazil, intended to increase annual production capacity from 270,000 tonnes to 520,000 tonnes of lithium oxide concentrate. The company also has a self-funded capital investment plan to upgrade Mine 1, which is expected to continue through 2026.
The company currently employs 1,100 people directly, with over 80% located in the Vale do Jequitinhonha region of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
