Imax and Goer Dynamics to develop in-vehicle entertainment system
Goer Dynamics and Imax (NYSE: IMAX), including its subsidiary Imax China (HKEX: 1970), announced a partnership to develop an Imax-branded in-vehicle entertainment system, with commercial production expected by the end of 2026.
The system, developed collaboratively by Goer Dynamics and Imax, will include a multi-dimensional acoustic architecture and a 4K HDR flip-down display. The companies describe the display as using ambient light adaptation technology to maintain image quality in changing road conditions.
According to the announcement, the system will be available in modular configurations to support different loudspeaker setups and vehicle trims, allowing automotive manufacturers to deploy it across various vehicle platforms.
Goer Dynamics and Imax plan to co-market the system to premium auto manufacturers in China. The partnership was announced at a ceremony in Qingdao, China.
Daniel Manwaring, CEO of Imax China, said the company sees an opportunity in autonomous vehicles, where buyers will "increasingly focus on immersive entertainment systems in their purchase decisions."
Tony Jiang, Chairman and CEO of Goer Dynamics, cited the company's background in automotive acoustics and smart cockpit systems as a basis for the collaboration.
Founded in 2020, Goer Dynamics operates under Goer Group and owns brands including Dynaudio and Libratone. The company states it has delivered in-vehicle entertainment systems for nearly three million new energy vehicles. Imax operates 1,865 systems across 91 countries and territories as of March 31, 2026.
