Johnson & Johnson beats estimates but shares dip

Investing.com -- Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) reported second-quarter results that exceeded Wall Street expectations, though shares are down around 1% premarket on Wednesday.



The healthcare giant posted adjusted earnings per share of $2.90, beating the analyst consensus of $2.86 by $0.04. Revenue reached $25.31 billion, surpassing the $25.02 billion estimate and representing a 6.6% increase from $23.74 billion in the same quarter last year.


The company raised its full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $11.60 to $11.75, with a midpoint of $11.68 that sits above the analyst consensus of $11.58. The revenue guidance of $100.8 billion to $101.4 billion, with a midpoint of $101.1 billion, came in slightly above the $101.06 billion consensus.


"Johnson & Johnson delivered strong second-quarter results, demonstrating the power of our innovation, the depth of our portfolio and the momentum in our pipeline as we advance transformative treatments that address the world's toughest health challenges," said Joaquin Duato, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.


The Innovative Medicine segment drove growth with worldwide operational sales up 6.8%, led by DARZALEX, CARVYKTI, TECVAYLI and RYBREVANT in Oncology, along with TREMFYA in Immunology and SPRAVATO and CAPLYTA in Neuroscience. Growth was partially offset by declines in STELARA and REMICADE. The MedTech segment grew 3.6% operationally, driven by wound closure products, biosurgery products, electrophysiology products and Shockwave.


U.S. sales increased 7.3% to $14.53 billion, while international sales rose 5.7% to $10.78 billion. The company reported GAAP EPS of $2.27 for the quarter, compared to $2.29 in the prior-year period. Free cash flow reached approximately $8.7 billion year-to-date.
