July 15, 2026 6:01 AM

IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced three additions to its Power platform on July 15, 2026: the Power S1112 server, IBM Power Autonomous Operations software, and the IBM Bob Premium Package for i development tool.

The Power S1112 is a one-socket Power11 server designed for compact on-premises deployment. According to IBM, it offers two times better core performance compared to the Power S914 and three times better core performance compared to the Power S814, along with up to 69% greater energy efficiency than the S914. The server is expected to be generally available on July 24, 2026.

IBM Power Autonomous Operations is an AI agent that monitors Power systems and resolves capacity constraint issues. IBM says internal testing showed the software completed the detection and resolution process in an average of 3.33 minutes, compared to an average of 52.59 minutes for manual intervention across eleven Power systems in a controlled environment. The software is expected to be generally available on September 23, 2026.

IBM Bob Premium Package for i is an AI-powered development assistant aimed at broadening access to IBM i application development, which has historically required specialized skills in RPG programming. The package was made generally available on June 24, 2026. Heartland Co-Op, an early adopter, estimates the tool delivers 60% faster time for new-to-platform developers to understand complex applications, according to IBM.

"Enterprises should not need to choose between moving at the speed of AI and keeping their systems stable and secure," said Hillery Hunter, General Manager for IBM Power and CTO, IBM Infrastructure.

IBM also announced IBM Power Expert Care Premium Essentials, a new support tier available exclusively for the Power S1112, offering priority access to IBM experts and accelerated response.
