Weave adds AI receptionist and insurance tools for healthcare
Weave (NYSE: WEAV), a patient engagement and payments software company, announced a set of platform updates aimed at healthcare practices, including expanded AI receptionist capabilities, automated insurance collection, and single sign-on desktop authentication.
The AI Receptionist expansion allows practices to configure automated responses based on working hours and contact type, distinguish between new and existing patients, and set escalation paths for staff handoffs. Text-based interactions are routed into the Weave inbox, and new analytics provide visibility into call-handling activity.
The platform now also allows practices to collect patient insurance information remotely before an appointment. It runs eligibility reports automatically and writes verified insurance data back to the patient chart in the practice management system.
According to Weave's 2026 State of Healthcare Pulse Survey, 47% of dental practices reported staffing shortages, 51% said automated insurance verification is a priority, and 40% expressed the same for eligibility checks.
"Enterprise practices need a platform that scales with them, securely and intelligently," said Marcus Bertilson, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Product at Weave. "These updates reflect what we hear consistently from our larger customers: they want stronger security controls, more visibility into AI performance, and less manual work for their front-office teams."
The announcement is based on a press release from Weave, which states it serves over 40,000 customer locations.
