Frontier Airlines (NASDAQ: ULCC) announced it will equip its aircraft with Starlink satellite internet service, with the first Starlink-enabled flight planned for early 2027, according to a company press release.

Frontier claims it will be the first U.S. airline to offer passengers access to Starlink's internet through a system managed directly by Starlink. The service is intended to provide connectivity for passengers as well as crew members and ground operations staff.

Frontier is part of the Indigo Partners investment portfolio, which also includes Wizz Air (Europe), Volaris (Mexico), JetSMART (South America), and Cebu Pacific (Philippines). The five airlines collectively plan to install Starlink on more than 1,000 aircraft.

"Starlink will provide our portfolio airlines with reliable, high-speed connectivity, further enhancing the customer experience of flying on Wizz, Frontier, Volaris, JetSMART and Cebu," said Bill Franke, Managing Partner of Indigo Partners.

Frontier CEO Jimmy Dempsey said the addition of Starlink is part of broader product investments, alongside the introduction of First Class seating and changes to the airline's loyalty program. "Starlink transforms the onboard experience, giving customers the flexibility to work, stream, browse, and stay connected throughout their journey," Dempsey said.

Starlink is operated by SpaceX and uses a low-Earth orbit satellite constellation to deliver broadband internet service.
