Opera reports mobile browser user growth in the UK and US

July 14, 2026 8:04 AM

Opera (NASDAQ: OPRA) reported that combined monthly active users (MAUs) of its Android and iOS browsers grew 66% in the UK and 40% in the US during the second quarter, year over year, according to a company statement.

In the US, Opera One for iOS grew 50% and Opera One for Android grew 30%. The UK saw 93% MAU growth on iOS and 50% on Android over the same period.

Opera One for iOS also grew 42% across Europe over the past year, with France seeing a 103% increase. The company attributed part of the European growth to the EU's 2024 Digital Markets Act, which introduced browser choice screens for iOS users.

"Our growth comes from people purposefully choosing us," said Jørgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera. "What we're seeing now is that growth is spreading to the US and the UK. People are finding their way to us on their own, which tells us the product is doing the work."

Opera's mobile browsers include features such as a no-log free VPN, a native ad blocker, tab management tools, and a built-in browser AI. A recent update to Opera One for iOS added cross-device synchronization of tabs, bookmarks, and passwords, as well as media controls and multimodal AI input capabilities.

Opera for Android, which recently reached its 100th version, added a football hub with live scores, match statistics, and player pages. The company said visits to the scores section increased 70% compared to typical English Premier League season levels since the feature launched.
