Geron names Chinmaya Rath as chief business officer

Geron Corporation (Nasdaq: GERN) has appointed Chinmaya Rath as chief business officer, the Foster City, California-based biopharmaceutical company announced July 13, 2026.

Rath brings more than 25 years of biopharma leadership experience to the role. He spent a significant portion of his career at Novartis, where he led strategic initiatives including the integrations of GSK Oncology and Alcon.

Most recently, Rath served as head of pharma solutions at Cellworks and as chief business officer at GlycoMimetics. He also founded CelluRx and served as vice president of innovation and strategic alliances at Omega Therapeutics. He previously held the role of head of strategy and operations for the Novartis U.S. Oncology Business Unit and was involved in U.S. launches of Tasigna and Lynparza.

Rath holds MBAs from Warwick Business School in the United Kingdom and Army Institute of Management studies in India, and completed undergraduate studies in life science from Ravenshaw University, India.

"Chinmaya is an experienced business development leader who will bring strategic insights and further executional focus to our team," said Harout Semerjian, president and chief executive officer of Geron.

Geron's product RYTELO (imetelstat) is approved in the United States and the European Union for the treatment of certain adult patients with lower-risk myelodysplastic syndromes with transfusion dependent anemia. The company is also conducting a Phase 3 clinical trial of imetelstat in myelofibrosis.
