Halliburton wins deepwater drilling contracts offshore Suriname
Halliburton (NYSE: HAL) has secured integrated drilling and completions contracts for the GranMorgu deepwater development offshore Suriname, operated by TotalEnergies, according to a company press release.
The long-term agreement covers drilling and completions services and includes a digital and automation execution model designed to connect planning, engineering, and operations. Halliburton said the approach will incorporate real-time data and remote operations control to improve well placement accuracy.
The project also marks what the company describes as the first global alliance among Halliburton, TotalEnergies, and Noble for deepwater operations.
"This award reflects the value of integrated execution, collaboration, and digital technology in complex deepwater developments," said Franco Delano, vice president for the Caribbean at Halliburton.
As part of the contract scope, Halliburton worked with local suppliers to upgrade a liquid mud and cement plant in Suriname. The company also supported construction of what it describes as Suriname's first completions and drilling workshop, which includes maintenance and repair capabilities.
Halliburton said the project will prioritize local talent and suppliers. The contract also involves electrification, automation, and emissions-intensity reduction efforts as part of the completions program.
