Longeveron shares Phase 2a laromestrocel data at AAIC 2026

Longeveron Inc. (NASDAQ: LGVN) presented a post-hoc exploratory analysis of data from its Phase 2a CLEAR-MIND clinical trial at the 2026 Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC), held July 12–15 in London.

The poster presentation, titled "Laromestrocel Stabilizes Brain Inflammation In Key Alzheimer's Disease Gray And White Matter Regions As Assessed Using Free Water MRI," examined the effects of laromestrocel, a human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell therapy, on neuroinflammation in patients with mild Alzheimer's disease (AD).

The analysis found that free water, a measure of brain inflammation assessed via MRI, rose over 39 weeks in key white matter regions — including the fornix, sagittal stratum, and uncinate fasciculus — in the placebo group (N=10). All groups receiving laromestrocel showed a numerical reduction in free water compared with placebo, though results did not reach conventional statistical significance. The anti-inflammatory effect was most prominent in the hippocampus, temporal lobe, and other AD-associated brain regions, and correlated with increased brain volume and improved cognitive and quality of life scores.

Blood plasma analysis using NuLISA indicated a reduction in neurogranin, a marker of neuronal degradation, in patients receiving 25 million cells over four monthly doses (p=0.023), and an increase in IL-13, an anti-inflammatory cytokine, in patients receiving a single 25 million cell dose (p=0.043).

The CLEAR-MIND Phase 2a trial results were previously published in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Medicine in March 2025. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted laromestrocel both Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation and Fast Track designation for the treatment of mild Alzheimer's disease. Longeveron has stated it has aligned on a Phase 3 study design.
