Lithium Africa nominates two directors ahead of August AGM
Lithium Africa Corp. (TSXV: LAF, FSE: 6MQ, OTCQB: LTAFF) has nominated John Kanellitsas and Ernie Ortiz to stand for election to its board of directors at the company's annual general meeting scheduled for August 21, 2026.
Kanellitsas currently serves as chairman of Lithium Argentina AG, a company he joined as an independent director in June 2013. He has held various executive roles at Lithium Argentina, including interim chief executive officer from October 2023 to March 2024. He has more than 30 years of experience in investment banking and asset management and co-founded Geologic Resource Partners, LLP, where he served as chief operating officer from 2004 to 2014. He previously held positions at Sun Valley Gold and Morgan Stanley.
Ortiz co-founded Lithium Royalty Corp. in 2018 and served as its chief executive officer and president. He led the company through its initial public offering on the Toronto Stock Exchange in March 2023, raising C$150 million, and through its subsequent acquisition by Altius Minerals Corporation, completed in March 2026. He began his career as an equity research analyst at Credit Suisse and is a founding member of the London Metal Exchange Lithium and Cobalt Committee.
Separately, Robert Eckford will not stand for re-election at the AGM. Tyron Breytenbach stepped down from the board effective July 1, 2026, and continues to support the company as capital markets advisor.
