Beamr video compression listed on RTMaps AI Store for AV development

Beamr Imaging Ltd. (NASDAQ: BMR) announced that its video compression technology is now available on the RTMaps AI Store, a software marketplace for the RTMaps autonomous vehicle development platform operated by Intempora, a dSPACE company.

RTMaps, which stands for Real-Time Multisensor Applications, is a middleware platform used by automotive original equipment manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers to acquire, synchronize, process, record, and replay data streams in real time.

According to the press release, autonomous vehicle programs generate video data measured in tens to hundreds of petabytes. Beamr's content-adaptive bitrate technology, known as CABR, claims to reduce video file sizes by up to 50% while preserving the image detail that machine learning perception models rely on. The technology runs GPU-accelerated for high-throughput processing.

Beamr's compression can be applied at multiple stages of the AV development pipeline, including data logging, cloud and data center storage, and simulation and training datasets used in hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Nicolas Du Lac, CEO of Intempora, said in the statement that Beamr is the first compression technology listed in the RTMaps AI Store. "It lets teams significantly cut the size of their video data without compromising the models that data feeds, inside the framework they already work in," he said.

Jacob Perrin, ADAS/AD Engineering Manager at dSPACE, said that in testing, "Beamr reduced that video data while preserving the detections perception models depend on."

Sharon Carmel, CEO of Beamr, said the company's Blueprint methodology provides customers an end-to-end assessment of their existing video workflows before adoption.

Beamr is headquartered in Herzliya, Israel. Intempora, founded in 2000 and based in Paris, has been a dSPACE subsidiary since 2019.
