NorthStrive Biosciences plans FACS study for EL-22 probiotic candidate
NorthStrive Biosciences Inc., a subsidiary of PMGC Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: ELAB), announced plans to initiate an independent flow cytometry analysis program to further characterize EL-22, its engineered Lactobacillus casei-based therapeutic candidate.
The planned study will use antibody-based detection and live/dead cell analysis to quantify latent myostatin antigen expression on NorthStrive-manufactured L. casei cells. The company also intends to use the results to establish comparability against EL-22 material previously manufactured by MOA Life Plus Co. Ltd.
The company expects to work with an independent contract research organization specializing in flow cytometry. The planned work includes antibody conjugation, live/dead marker analysis, sample testing, and data generation across a panel of Lactobacillus samples.
According to the company, the analytical program is intended to support product identity and manufacturing consistency, as well as build a characterization foundation for future investigational new drug-enabling development of EL-22.
EL-22 is designed to express a latent myostatin antigen to help preserve muscle during weight loss treatments, including use alongside GLP-1 receptor agonists. The program has not yet been completed, and the company stated it cannot guarantee the study will be initiated or completed on the anticipated timeline or that results will support manufacturing comparability or regulatory readiness.
