Eaton and FranklinWH have announced a collaboration to integrate Eaton's AbleEdge smart breakers with the FranklinWH System, a home energy management platform. The joint solution is now available, with Eaton serving as FranklinWH's preferred supplier for load management, according to a press release from Eaton.

The integration is designed to simplify the installation and management of residential solar and energy storage systems across North America. Eaton's AbleEdge smart breakers can be retrofitted into existing load centers or added to the FranklinWH Meter Adapter Controller for new construction projects. Contractors and homeowners can use the FranklinWH App to install, commission, and monitor both companies' technologies.

The combined system also supports virtual power plant (VPP) functionality when deployed with participating utilities, allowing homeowners to shift or shed energy demand during peak periods and potentially earn revenue or credits by exporting excess power to the grid.

"This collaboration raises the bar for home electrification," said Paul Ryan, vice president and general manager of energy transition at Eaton. "We're bringing intelligence to residential circuit breakers—so homeowners can control the loads that matter most, extend backup power and reduce wasted energy."

Gary Lam, CEO and co-founder of FranklinWH, said the integration would give homeowners "new visibility and control over their energy use" through the FranklinWH App.
